5 or 6

Jeff M.Miller

Until the first of the year, our average was 5-6 songs. This year, I made a decision to focus even more on quality over quantity, and cut our active song list down to less than 100, and we now do an average of 4 songs each Sunday. Our music portion is still just about as long, since we focus more on the arrangements of the songs.

Micah Huebner

4 or 5....we plan for about 23 minutes of music, so the amount of songs is flexible.

Jennifer

We do 4 songs at the beginning, have a children's message, do a kids song, have announcements & the message. If it is a communion Sunday, we usually have a song while the elements are being passed out. Either way, we generally end with a short benediction or the Doxology, or just a shortened version of a song we already did.

The Thief

5-6

3-4 at the beginning of service, 1 as special music, and one closer.

On Communion Sunday (first Sunday of the month) we have another song)

Greg

6 songs over about 30 minutes.

Allen

We generally include 6 - 7 songs in each service, sometimes supplemented by children's choirs or video content.

Eric Frisch

We usually play 3 at the top of the service and one at the end... sometimes we use a special at the beginning of the service or during the offering.

philwing

usually 5-6 songs per gathering - all depends on how many will fit with the sermon direction and needed teaching time.

west breedlove

4 congregational songs
Doxology (1 of 4 arrangements)
Offertory
2 songs during Communion
(Take a look at this coming Sunday: http://www.planningcenteronline.com/plans/515204)

Tozer Custodian

We always start with two songs, then the sermon, then we finish with 4-5 songs in our service.

gdugan2

We usually start with three songs at the beginning of the service, followed sometimes by special music. After a time of message/discussion/prayer/communion, we finish with 1-2 songs.

Jenni

4 songs - 2 "fast", then after the announcements/special guests, etc, 2 "slow" songs. But it's not the number of songs, is it? If my congregation connects with worshipping God in the first chorus of the first song, that is more than enough :)
I like west breedlove's format tho.

Andrew Wing

We usually do 4 songs...
1st song...Then greeting time...Then the next 3 songs. We will also try to change it up and do all 4 songs together then do a greeting time.

Stephanie

Probably about 4

ichris

We average around 5 songs I'd say.

On an un-related note. Not sure where to send this - but for the new song cafe, can you guys please put these in a more current format than Windows media and Real Player? How about using youtube or vimeo.com or any number of other video sites - not sure if this youtube user is the offical site or not but it hasn't been updated in awhile:

Thanks for the great resource. Hope this doesn't come across like a cranky email!

Gary Durbin

4 usually.

Kade Young

3-4 songs. Most of the time we do just 3. I think its good to have a 'plan' but to also allow time for the spirit to work. But its important not to take this to the extreme and sit up on stage for more than a couple of minutes waiting for something to happen. Dont put God in a box, He has His own plan - and you will know about it if you listen to that still small voice.

Jay Ayliff

Anything between five and eight. We have a worship time at the beginning of the service involving 3-6 songs, depending on our plans and God's - we're a small enough church to be flexible and go with the flow. We sing another before the sermon to concentrate minds and one at the end as a response. If we have communion that week there'll be another song to go with that.
