“Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire”

– Hebrews 12:29

God has always been a fan of fire. All throughout the scriptures it has consistently been one of the main ways He chooses to reveal Himself. As Psalm 104:4 says it, ” He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.” It’s a tool used by the King to make His presence known; to demonstrate His power. Whether it’s with Moses and the burning bush, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego, or Elijah on Mt. Carmel….there is just something about fire.

Your Grace Finds Me is the newest song from Matt Redman and on his new album that released today. It is a song that attempts to celebrate the grace of God that we find in all the different scenarios of our life. His utterly constant, helpful, present grace in our lives. He is there in the light of the sunrise and in the newborn cry. You see Him on your wedding day and in the weeping by the graveside. His grace is the same for the rich and the poor, the saint and the sinner.

In the chorus of Your Grace Finds Me it says, “From creation to the cross, from the cross into eternity, Your grace finds me.” It’s there in the darkest nights of the soul and in the sweetest songs of victory.

We’ve all had weeks that have treated us less than great. Okay, who am I kidding, we’ve all had weeks that have treated us pretty poorly. Maybe you work a full-time job in addition to your responsibilities as a worship leader and you spent the entire week having to let go of employees due to budget cuts. Or maybe you and your spouse were celebrating the joys of finding out your pregnant, only to have it cut short due to a miscarriage.

The list of less-than-ideal situations we find ourselves in goes on and on. Life happens and we still have other responsibilities that we do our best to be faithful to, but it doesn’t mean that we always get it right or even have the capacity to give 100% of ourselves to those roles all of the time. No matter how bad we may want to…
